Kyocera calls the DuraXA Equip "more than just a flip phone." It is built for job sites and outdoor use: Kyocera says it is rated IP68 against dust and water (2 m for 30 minutes), survives drops of 1.5 m (5 ft) onto concrete, meets MIL-STD-810H tests and is certified for hazardous locations (Non-incendive, Class I, Division 2, Groups A-D, T4).

It has a 2.6-inch inner screen, a small monochrome outer display, a glove-friendly keypad, programmable keys including an SOS key, two front loudspeakers rated at 100 dB or more, a 5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash, and a removable 1,770 mAh battery that charges by USB-C or through contacts on the back. Apps and Google

Kyocera's system is built on Android (Kyocera lists "AOSP (Proprietary)"), but you can't add apps from an app store. The DuraXA Equip's user guide covers email, messaging, a music player, file manager, sound recorder, browser, camera, calculator, calendar, alarm clock, FM radio and voice commands, and does not mention Google, Gmail or a Play Store.

Google's list of Google Play supported devices (checked Oct. 15, 2026) has no entry for the E4831 or the DuraXA Equip. Businesses can lock down features with Kyocera's Device Control. [1][3][4][5]

Where it is sold and how to get one

Kyocera sells the unlocked phone itself. Its online store listing for the new E4831 (black, with camera) showed a $215.99 price and an add-to-cart button on Oct. 15, 2026, along with a banner reading "$179.98 SALE PRICE until 8/31/26," a date that had passed. The listing says the phone comes with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, delivery in about 5 business days, and that Kyocera "may open the box to update the software before selling." No SIM card is included.

Kyocera's product page also says additional discounts may be available "through your carrier." A 2024 Kyocera press release said the DuraXA Equip was "available unlocked and with UScellular." [1][2][6]

Will it work in the US?

Kyocera says the unlocked DuraXA Equip "is intended for use in the United States." Its compatibility list marks these carriers "Compatible (YES)": AT&T, Boost Mobile, Cricket, Consumer Cellular, Metro, Mint Mobile, T-Mobile and UScellular, with notes such as "Contact AT&T to activate" or "Pre-Activated SIM card only." It lists Verizon / Visible and use outside the US as "Not Compatible (NO)."

Kyocera publishes LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 14 and 66. AT&T's LTE bands are 12/17/29, 5, 2, 4/66 and 30, and T-Mobile's are 5, 4 and 66 plus Extended Range 12 and 71; the phone lacks band 71. It supports VoLTE calling with HD voice. See phone bands and US carriers. [1][2][7][8]

Software support

The user guide describes a Software update menu (Settings > Software update) with an option to download updates automatically. Kyocera's store notes that it may update the software before shipping. Kyocera does not publish an end date for updates on these pages. [2][3]
