How we check facts
AltPhones is an independent database of phones without Google. We don't sell phones, take commissions, or accept payment from phone makers.
Where facts come from
- Makers and OS projects first. Prices, availability, software, update promises and app support come from the maker's or project's own website, store, documentation or announcements.
- Spec databases only for hardware. Where a maker doesn't publish a detail (for example, the full list of network bands), we may cite an established spec database and label it "spec database".
- Store listings only for where to buy. When a phone isn't sold in the US, we link overseas stores or importers that list it, labeled "third-party seller", with the price and date we saw. We don't vouch for any seller.
- No news or forum posts as sources. We use them to find out what changed, then confirm it on the official page.
Every page is checked twice
One researcher writes each page from the sources. A second, independent reviewer then re-opens every source and checks every claim before the page is published. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed, and every fact links to its source.
Keeping it current
Phones get discontinued, prices change, and OS projects pause or restart. We re-check pages regularly and update the "last reviewed" date when we do. If you spot something out of date, please tell us.
