Where it is sold and how to get one
In the US, the /e/OS version comes from Murena's US store. Murena and the /e/OS team announced in November 2025 that the Gen. 6 was no longer on pre-order in the US, and it opened US pre-orders for the Gen. 6+ on Aug. 18, 2026. Murena says it ships to the USA with all duties and taxes included and that all its phones are carrier unlocked. Returns are accepted within 14 days.
Fairphone's own US store sells the Gen. 6+ with Android 16 (US$649.99 as of Oct. 15, 2026), not the /e/OS version. Fairphone says US owners get five years of warranty; Murena says Fairphone offers the warranty extension on the /e/OS models after you register the phone.
In Europe, you can buy the /e/OS version from Murena or from the Fairphone shop. The French company iodé also sells the Fairphone 6 and 6+ with its own system, iodéOS, from 639,00€ (Gen. 6) and 699€ (Gen. 6+) as of Oct. 15, 2026. [1][2][3][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]
Will it work in the US?
Murena's US page says: "We only recommend using this phone on T-Mobile and its MNVOs. This phone isn't compatible with Verizon network." It lists T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Mint Mobile, Tello, Red Pocket (T-Mobile version), Ultra Mobile, Simple Mobile, Ting, SpeedTalk and GCI (Alaska) as supported carriers. AT&T is not on that list.
The phone supports VoLTE (voice calls over 4G) and Wi-Fi calling "if supported by carrier". Its published LTE bands include 2, 4, 5, 12, 66 and 71, and its 5G bands include n41, n71 and n77. There is no mmWave 5G. Those LTE bands include the ones AT&T lists for its 4G network (2, 4/66, 5 and 12/17), but AT&T has not said the phone works, and Murena does not recommend it there. Murena also notes that call forwarding can't be set in /e/OS settings; use your carrier's app or website. See phone bands and US carriers for background, and check with your carrier. [1][5][12]
Apps and Google
The phone comes with no Google apps or Google services. /e/OS includes microG, an open-source replacement for Google Play services that handles things like push notifications and location for apps that expect Google. Apps install from App Lounge, which pulls free apps from the Google Play Store catalogue (you can sign in anonymously), open-source apps from F-Droid, and web apps.
Murena says most Android apps can be installed, that in-app purchases aren't supported, and that some apps that depend heavily on Google services may not run properly. Fairphone's /e/OS page links to community lists of banking and government apps so you can check yours first; Murena accepts returns within 14 days. More in our /e/OS and microG pages. [1][2][5][13][14]
Software support
Murena lists the phone with /e/OS based on AOSP 16 (Android 16) and "at least 8 years of software support", and says it publishes updates at least every 2 months. Fairphone lists software support for the Gen. 6 family until 2033 and says long-term /e/OS support is provided by Murena. The /e/OS documentation shows a locked bootloader is supported on this phone, and Murena's spec sheet lists "Bootloader locked: Yes". [1][5][15]
What's different
- Repairable: Fairphone says 12 parts are user-replaceable, and the battery, display, USB-C port and back cover can be swapped in under 5 minutes. - Side switch: a button you can set to turn the camera and microphone off, switch to Do Not Disturb or turn on the torch (Murena). - Materials: Fairphone says 51% of the phone by weight is fair or recycled material. - Warranty: up to 5 years when registered with Fairphone, per Murena's product page. [1][5]
Questions people ask

Does the Fairphone 6 with /e/OS work on Verizon or AT&T?

What is the difference between the Fairphone Gen. 6 and Gen. 6+?
Fairphone says the Gen. 6+ has the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip and 12 GB of RAM, against the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and 8 GB in the Gen. 6, and comes in a new Cobalt Blue.
