Which operating system does it come with?

The BraX3 launched with iodéOS, a de-Googled Android system from the French company iodé. iodé announced it as "a brand new privacy phone running iodéOS" in November 2024 and said in June 2025 that the first phones were going out to backers.

As of Oct. 15, 2026, Brax's store lists the BraX3's OS as "BraxOS · de-Googled Android base", and Brax's documentation calls BraxOS the "Shipping default OS for BraX3", with iodéOS, CipherOS, LineageOS, LunarOS and Ubuntu Touch listed as supported alternatives. Brax's own BraxOS documentation page still says "Coming soon". On its forum, Brax's support team said it built its own OS because it controls the hardware design and wants to add features custom ROMs lack.

iodé's list of officially supported devices still includes the BraX3, with iodéOS 7 (based on Android 16), VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling support, 5G and a relockable bootloader. See our iodéOS page. If you want iodéOS specifically, ask Brax which OS your unit ships with before you order. [1][2][3][4][6][7][8]

Where it is sold and how to get one

Brax sells the BraX3 from its online store. On Oct. 15, 2026 it listed the 256 GB model at $379, "in stock · limited quantity". Brax says orders ship in 5-8 days with tracking, with free returns within 14 days, and a 12-month global warranty.

Brax's shipping policy says it offers international shipping (5-10 business days), that sales tax is collected at checkout, and that "no import duties apply for customers in the US, and European Union". The store's terms name Lunar Direct LLC, with a principal office in New York, as the seller.

Brax's FAQ says the BraX3 "is the final production run before the BraX4", which is why quantities are limited, and that the support commitment is unchanged. [1][9][10]

Will it work in the US?

Brax publishes 19 LTE bands (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 28, 38, 40, 41, 42, 66 and 71) and 15 5G bands (n1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 25, 26, 28, 38, 40, 41, 66, 71, 77 and 78). That covers every LTE band T-Mobile lists (4, 5, 66, 12, 71) and its 5G bands n71, n2/n25 and n41. A band is a slice of radio spectrum; a phone only connects where it supports the bands a carrier uses.

Bands are not the whole story: carriers also approve or block devices. Brax keeps a US carrier compatibility table based on its own and users' testing:

- T-Mobile and T-Mobile-based carriers such as Mint Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile and Google Fi: "Fully compatible". - AT&T, Cricket and other AT&T-based carriers: "In the process of getting approved". - Verizon and Visible: "Not compatible". - Carriers on several networks (such as US Mobile and Consumer Cellular) are listed as partially compatible, on their T-Mobile service only.

Brax says the list is community-driven and that a missing carrier doesn't mean the phone won't work. [1][5][11]

Apps and Google

Brax says the BraX3 runs Android "with proprietary Google apps and services removed" and needs no Google account. Its FAQ says banking, payment and two-factor apps people ask about are verified on current firmware, that "a handful need one extra step after an update", and that a very small number depend on Google Play services and work fully only as a web app. Brax lists an account-free app store as included. [1]

What's different

- Repairs: Brax says the screen, battery and USB port are replaceable, parts are stocked through 2032, and unlocking the bootloader does not void the hardware warranty. - Bootloader: unlockable and relockable with your own keys, according to Brax. - Privacy tools: Brax lists system-level ad and tracker blocking, a traffic analyzer that maps app connections by country, and per-app network controls. - Hardware extras: 3.5 mm headphone jack, microSD slot, no water-resistance rating (Brax says it chose repairability over sealing).
