Apps and Google
The Flip Pro runs KaiOS 3.0, so it can't install Android or Play Store apps. TCL says it features "pre-loaded apps like Google Search, Google Maps, KaiNews, and KaiWeather" and that you can download games and other apps from the KaiStore.
So this phone has Google apps, but not the full Google Play services layer that Android phones have. [1]
Where it is sold and how to get one
- Verizon sells the TCL FLIP Pro Voice & Text Only for $79.99 full retail, or $2.22 a month for 36 months, as of Oct. 15, 2026. Verizon's spec sheet for this listing says the hotspot is not available.
- TCL's US site has a product page for the Flip Pro but sends you to other stores to buy it.
Will it work in the US?
TCL lists LTE bands 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13 and 66, and the same list appears on Verizon's spec sheet. The phone supports VoLTE (calls over 4G), which matters because US carriers shut down their 3G networks in 2022 and older phones without VoLTE lost service. Verizon is the only US seller we found; if you want to use one on another carrier, check with that carrier first. [1][2][3]
What's different
- Removable 1850 mAh battery; TCL quotes up to 14 hours of talk time and more than 14 days of standby on its feature list, and up to 8 hours of 4G talk time and 12 days of standby in the spec table
- Only 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage (about 2 GB free), so few apps fit without a microSD card
- TCL's spec table lists a mobile hotspot for up to 10 devices, while its feature text says up to 8; Verizon's Voice & Text Only listing says no hotspot
