What it is

TCL describes the FLIP 4 5G as a flip phone with "all the essential features." It has a 3.2-inch inner screen (320 x 240) and a 1.77-inch outer screen for notifications and caller ID, large keys, and shortcut keys for favorite contacts and messages. TCL says you can enlarge text, raise brightness or invert colors on the inner screen.

Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4s octa-core chip, 32 GB of storage (TCL says 23.9 GB is free for you) and a microSD slot for cards up to 1 TB. TCL lists a 3,000 mAh battery with up to 40 hours of 4G talk time and up to 15 days of standby, a 5 MP rear camera, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5, FM radio, a mobile hotspot, Wi-Fi calling and a nano-SIM plus an eSIM (a built-in digital SIM). Apps and Google

The FLIP 4 5G runs KaiOS 4.0, so it can't install Android or Play Store apps. TCL says the navigation pad opens "a carousel of some of the most popular Google apps, email accounts and built-in web browser." TCL's user manual says pressing left on the navigation key gives "quick access to Kai Store, Internet, YouTube, Google Maps and Google." The KaiStore is KaiOS's own app store.

So the phone comes with Google apps, but not the Google Play services layer that Android phones have. The manual also describes a Kids Mode for users under 18 that restricts apps such as the KaiStore, social media and games, and blocks the browser. [1][2]

Where it is sold and how to get one

[1][3][4]

Will it work in the US?

It is built for US carriers. TCL lists 4G LTE bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26, 66 and 71, LTE band 41, and 5G standalone bands n25, n41, n66 and n71; T-Mobile and Metro publish the same LTE and 5G lists. TCL says it supports VoLTE (calls over 4G) and Wi-Fi calling.

T-Mobile's main LTE bands are 5, 4 and 66, plus Extended Range bands 12 and 71, and its 5G uses n71, n25 and n41; the FLIP 4 5G has all of these. AT&T lists LTE bands 12/17/29, 5, 2, 4/66 and 30; the phone has 2, 4, 5, 12 and 66. T-Mobile and Metro are the only sellers we found; on other carriers, check before you buy. See phone bands and US carriers. [1][3][4][5][6]

Software support

The phone ships with KaiOS 4.0. TCL's manual says updates arrive over the air (Settings > Device > Software update) and that some updates are mandatory. TCL does not publish how long it will provide software updates.

For repairs, TCL's support page says it will support replacement parts and/or services "for a minimum of 3 years after the end of production" of the FLIP 4 5G (T440W), including the battery, cameras, screen and speaker. [1][2][7]

Questions people ask

How much is the TCL FLIP 4 5G?

T-Mobile lists it at $119.99 full price as of Oct. 15, 2026. Metro by T-Mobile also sells it; TCL's own store showed it sold out. [1][3][4]

Does it have an eSIM?

Yes. TCL lists a nano-SIM and an embedded eSIM. [1]
