What it can and can't do

Punkt lists these functions: calls with noise cancelling and speakerphone, SMS with T9 and MMS, contacts, notes, clock, calculator, calendar, and a hotspot over USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi so a laptop or tablet can get online through the phone.

The phone has a GPS chip, but Punkt says it "does not support navigation or location-based services in the conventional sense (e.g. maps or tracking apps)." There is no browser, email or app store, and Punkt says the MP02 "does not support app installation or sideloading."

Punkt says the MP02 receives MMS messages "but is currently unable to forward them to other recipients."

Bluetooth headphones work. The screen is a 2-inch display, and Punkt says notifications are hidden while the keypad is locked. [1][2]

Where it is sold and how to get one

Punkt sells the MP02 from its online store, which lists the US as a delivery country. On Oct. 15, 2026, the store showed the phone as "Sold out" (CHF 299 for black, CHF 319 for light grey and light blue) with a "Notify me" button, and the message: "Limited stock currently available via Amazon US."

Punkt's "Buy on Amazon US" button leads to this Amazon US listing (black). On Oct. 15, 2026, Amazon showed it at $299.00, in stock, sold by a third-party seller (sportique) and shipped by Amazon. Punkt's page warns that shipping outside the US "may incur additional Amazon shipping charges, or the product may not be available in your country."

Punkt offers a 2-year limited warranty, and its store mentions a 30-day returns policy. [1][2][3]

Will it work in the US?

Punkt publishes these bands for the MP02 New Generation:

Punkt's US carrier table (coverage / VoLTE) reads: AT&T supported / verified; T-Mobile supported / not supported; Verizon not supported / not supported. VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is how phones make calls over 4G networks. If you plan to use T-Mobile or a brand that runs on its network, check with the carrier first.

The phone takes one nano-SIM and has no eSIM listed. [1][2]

Apps and Google

There are no Google apps and no Play Store. Punkt says the MP02 runs "a custom-built, locked-down operating system" with "no browser, email, app store, or sideloading," and only "Punkt-authorized apps like Pigeon and DailyView are supported."

Pigeon is Punkt's messenger based on the Signal Protocol. Punkt says it allows encrypted messages "with other Signal-compatible users, but it is only available on the MP02." Punkt's support site says that from Sept. 15, 2026, Pigeon "may be temporarily unavailable for a few weeks while we carry out essential technical updates." As of Oct. 15, 2026, that page had no restart date; Punkt says it will share one "once the expected restart timing has been confirmed." [2][4]

Software support

Punkt's spec page lists the operating system as Apostrophy (APHY 1.3). Under security updates it gives the last update as 5 August 2021 and says "No further Android/Vendor updates planned."

There are two generations. Punkt says first-generation MP02s were bought before November 2021 and that the new generation "launched in 12/2021"; to check yours, go to Menu > About > Software, and "if it shows APHY, it means that it is an MP02 New Generation." [1][5][6]
