Where it is sold and how to get one
Punkt sells the MC03 from its own online store. Punkt announced on June 26, 2026 that the MC03 is "now shipping following its pre-order period." Prices as of October 15, 2026, by the country you pick in the store: €745 (Germany and other euro countries), £679 (UK) and CHF 745 (Switzerland). The AphyOS subscription is included for life with no recurring fee.
United States: with the US selected, the store shows $745.00 and "Sold out." Punkt's support article "Will the MC03 be available in the USA" (updated June 24, 2026) says the MC03 "is planned to be available in the USA as part of its global release. The expected launch is in Late Autumn 2026," with a waiting list on Punkt's website. A separate article says Canada is also planned for autumn 2026.
Punkt's shipping policy lists 2-5 working days to the EU, UK, EFTA and USA, and warns that outside the regions where it is VAT-registered (EU, UK, Australia, Norway) customs duties, tariffs or import taxes may be added on delivery. Punkt offers a 30-day return window after you contact support for authorization, and a 24-month warranty (12 months on the battery). [1][2][3][9][10][11][12]

Will it work in the US?
Punkt says the MC03 is unlocked and lists these bands:
- 4G LTE: B1, B2, B3, B5, B7, B8, B9, B18, B19, B20, B28, B34, B38, B40, B41, B42, B43
- 5G (standalone): n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n26, n28, n38, n40, n41, n77, n78
- 3G: B1, B2, B5, B8; 2G: 850/900/1800/1900
The list doesn't include LTE bands 4, 12, 13, 66 or 71 or 5G bands n66 and n71. Punkt's carrier FAQ names German carriers (O2, Vodafone, Telekom, 1&1) and makes no US carrier statement. Compare the list with your carrier's bands in our US carrier bands guide and ask your carrier, especially since US sales had not started as of October 15, 2026.
The MC03 has one nano-SIM slot and eSIM hardware, but Punkt says eSIM "is currently under development and is not yet available"; its October 2026 software notes still call it Alpha. Punkt says the MC03 supports Wi-Fi calling. [13][14][15][16][17]
Apps and Google
AphyOS is based on the Android Open Source Project. Punkt divides the phone into two spaces:
- Vault: a minimal home space with apps curated by Punkt, including Threema for messaging, email, calendar, 5 GB cloud storage and the built-in Digital Nomad VPN. No Google apps are preinstalled here. - Wild Web: a separate space for apps you choose; Punkt says each runs in its own isolated "bubble."
Apps come from the Aphy Store, and "by enabling Google Services, you can also integrate the Google Play Store." Google services are not switched on out of the box: you can enable them during setup, or later in the "A Apps" app, which then downloads and installs the Play Store and Google services. Punkt's October 2026 software notes call this layer "Sandboxed Google Play." Punkt says Google apps such as Maps, Photos and Drive can be installed in Wild Web, though "some Google apps rely on Google Mobile Services, which may behave differently compared to a standard Android device." Its October 2026 software notes still list "Google Play Services ships with an outdated version and cannot currently be updated manually" and say "Android Auto cannot currently be installed on AphyOS."
Banking and wallets: Punkt says "many banking apps may work" but "full compatibility cannot be guaranteed," and that "Google Wallet is currently undergoing testing." Proton apps are available but need a separate Proton subscription. [1][4][5][6][8][16][18][19]
Software support
The MC03 ships with AphyOS based on Android 15. Punkt says an Android 16 upgrade "is expected in Q3 2026," but its latest software notes (update MC03.20261007.U0, updated October 12, 2026) don't mention Android 16; that update raised the Android security patch level to September 5, 2026. Punkt promises 5 years of security updates and 3 years of feature updates, citing the EU Ecodesign rules. Updates roll out in waves in the background.
The October 2026 notes still list unfinished features: fingerprint enrollment "remains unavailable and is still under development," eSIM is in Alpha, and Airplane Mode "should not be relied upon to disable cellular connectivity" (Punkt says to power the phone off when flying). Punkt's accessibility FAQ says the TalkBack screen reader is not supported at the moment. [1][7][16][20]
What's different
- Made in Europe: designed in Switzerland, manufactured in Germany. - Removable battery: 5,200 mAh, held by five screws; IP68 water and dust rating. - Data Ledger: shows which apps use what data and lets you control permissions; permissions are denied by default. - Built-in VPN (Digital Nomad VPN) and Threema preinstalled in the Vault. - No video output over USB-C and no headphone jack. [1][21][22][23][24]
What about the Punkt MC02?
The older MC02 is still on sale on October 15, 2026, at CHF 499 or $499 with the US selected. It runs Apostrophy OS based on AOSP 13. Unlike the MC03, its published band list includes LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 66 and 71 and 5G n41, n71 and n77. [25][26][27][28]
