What it can and can't do
Light says the Light Flip is "an intentionally simple phone with a camera and a variety of utility-based tools," with predictive T9 typing, voice-to-text, audio messaging and hotspot.
Light lists these tools: alarm, calculator, calendar, directory (business search), directions, hotspot, music, notes and voice memo, podcasts, rideshare (Lyft and Uber), weather, an authenticator for two-factor codes, and timer. You add tools from Light's dashboard website.
Light says there is "not currently" a way to use Signal or WhatsApp, and no streaming music tool like Spotify. It says the phone will never have "social media, internet browsing, email, news, or ads." The interface and keyboard are English only.
Other features Light lists: 9 speed dials, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB-C, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC and a flashlight. [1][2]

Where it is sold and how to get one
Light sells the Light Flip only from its own online shop, as a pre-order. As of Oct. 15, 2026, the shop lists:
- Batch 1: ships April 2027 (sold out)
- Batch 2: ships late April 2027 (sold out)
- Batch 3: ships May 2027
- Batch 4: ships late May 2027
The price is $349 unlocked in six colors (black, navy, red, pink, yellow, gray), or from $39 a month with a two-year Light Service contract, which Light says is "limited to the U.S. currently."
Light ships abroad; its shop says that outside the US, "sales tax/VAT/customs or duty will be charged upon delivery." Light's general return policy accepts returns only for defective phones, but it refunds orders canceled before shipping.
Light says mass production is scheduled for February 2027 after three prototype builds, so dates could change. [1][3][4]
Will it work in the US?
Light publishes the same 4G LTE and 5G band list for the Light Flip as for the Light Phone III, including LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26, 41, 66 and 71 and 5G bands n2, n5, n25, n41, n66, n71 and n77.
With "Light Flip" and "United States" selected, Light's compatibility checker (checked Oct. 15, 2026) lists Light's own service, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon ("certification in progress"), Noble Mobile, Mint and US Mobile ("Light Speed only") as working. It lists Cricket, Metro by T-Mobile, Google Fi, Spectrum, Xfinity, Straight Talk, Tracfone and several other brands as not compatible.
Light says the Light Flip "will be certified with all major network/consumer regulators as well as local service providers (i.e., FCC, PTCRB, CE, AT&T, Verizon, etc.)." Because the phone has not shipped yet, check Light's checker again before your batch ships.
The phone takes a nano-SIM and an eSIM (a built-in digital SIM). [1][6][7]
Apps and Google
There is no app store and no Google apps. The Light Flip uses LightOS, Light's own software, and the same tools as other Light phones. Light also runs a developer program for community-built tools. [1][2]
