Where it is sold and how to get one
PinePhone Pro: PINE64 announced on Aug. 14, 2025 that "the PinePhone Pro is officially discontinued." It said spare parts "will still be made for up to two years, depending on demand," and that a final small batch of refurbished units would follow. As of Oct. 15, 2026 the Pine Store lists the PinePhone Pro Explorer Edition ($399) as out of stock, and the refurbished listing ($359, "only available within EU") is also out of stock. There is no new PinePhone Pro to buy from PINE64.
Original PinePhone: PINE64 said the original PinePhone "is still alive and kicking, and Pine Store plans to keep it rolling for about two more years" (written in August 2025). The Beta Edition with Convergence Package is $199.99 and in stock as of Oct. 15, 2026. The cheaper Beta Edition without the dock ($149.99) is out of stock. The store says EU orders ship weekly from a transit warehouse in Poland, and non-EU orders ship weekly from Hong Kong.
Pine Store's shipping policy says buyers who refuse to pay import duties get no reship or refund. Phones must be ordered on their own, because of lithium battery shipping rules. The device warranty is 30 days. [1][2][3][4][5][6]

Will it work in the US?
Both phones use the Quectel EG25-G modem, which PINE64 lists with "Worldwide, Global LTE bands": LTE-FDD 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 28, and LTE-TDD 38, 39, 40 and 41. There is no 5G.
PINE64's own carrier page says to compare your carrier's frequencies with the phone's, and warns that "Some providers may allow only certain known devices." It also notes that MMS (picture messages) may need workarounds on some Linux systems. Check with your carrier, and see our bands and US carriers guide. [2][4][7][8][9]
Apps and Google
PinePhones do not run Android. PINE64 describes the PinePhone as "capable of running mainline Linux" and supported by many Linux phone projects. What apps you get depends on the system you install. postmarketOS lists the PinePhone and PinePhone Pro in its community device category, and the Ubuntu Touch devices site lists both phones. The PinePhone Pro's store listing says it shipped with a pre-beta build of Sailfish OS; the original PinePhone ships with Manjaro and Plasma Mobile.
Android apps are possible only through a compatibility layer such as Waydroid, which the postmarketOS wiki calls "still kind of experimental." [2][4][9][10][11][12]
Software support
PINE64 does not promise software updates; the operating systems come from community projects. PINE64's store notes say the PinePhone Pro Explorer Edition "is aimed at Linux developers with an extensive knowledge of embedded systems and/or experience with mobile Linux," and that Beta Edition PinePhones are for "users with extensive Linux experience."
After the discontinuation, PINE64 said it has "no insider info on a brand-new PinePhone" and that Pine Store is focusing on other projects, including RISC-V. [1][2][4]
What's different
- Hardware privacy switches for the cameras, microphone, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, LTE modem (and GPS), and the headphone-jack serial port.
- Removable battery in the Samsung J7 size.
- Pogo pins on the back for add-ons; PINE64 says the Pro's pins are compatible with the original PinePhone.
- Video out over USB-C, so the phone can drive a monitor; the original PinePhone's Convergence Package includes a USB-C dock with two USB-A ports, a digital video port and an Ethernet port.
