China edition only

Xiaomi sells the 18 Fold in China, with the China edition of its software, Xiaomi HyperOS 4. As of Nov. 7, 2026, Xiaomi's global website has no Xiaomi 18 Fold page (the address leads to a 404 page: "the page you're looking for cannot be reached"), so there is no global edition to compare.

For contrast, Xiaomi's global spec page for the Xiaomi 17 (a slab phone) lists Google features: "Circle to Search with Google" and "Google Gemini". Xiaomi's China spec page for the 18 Fold lists China services instead: Mi Pay, transit cards for "300+" Chinese cities and digital car keys, and it doesn't mention Google. GMS (Google Mobile Services) is Google's package of the Play Store, Google sign-in, Google Maps and push messaging. [1][4][6]

Where it is sold and how to get one

In China, Xiaomi sells the phone through its Xiaomi Store. On Nov. 7, 2026 the store listed it from ¥10,999, marked in stock, in 12 GB/256 GB, 12 GB/512 GB, 16 GB/512 GB and 16 GB/1 TB versions.

Outside China, third-party exporters list the China edition. For example, Giztop listed the Xiaomi 18 Fold "as low as $1,799.00" and in stock on Nov. 7, 2026. Giztop says "This is a Chinese edition, and only supports the English/Chinese menu" and that the phone "is pre-installed with full Google Mobile Service". Those are the seller's claims, not Xiaomi's. Giztop's shipping page lists DHL/UPS delivery to the United States in 5-7 days and says it declares packages "at a lower price" to help buyers avoid import tax. We have not tested any seller; see our guide to importing a phone to the US.

Warranty: Xiaomi says "the after-sales services shall be limited to the country or region of the original purchase," unless law or Xiaomi says otherwise. A China-edition phone has no Xiaomi service in the US. [1][3][5][7][8]

Will it work in the US?

Xiaomi publishes the China model's bands. A band is a slice of radio spectrum; a phone only connects where it supports the bands a carrier uses. The Xiaomi 18 Fold lists LTE FDD bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28 and 66 and 5G bands including n2, n5, n12, n13, n25, n41, n66 and n77.

- T-Mobile lists LTE bands 4, 5, 66, 12 and 71, and 5G bands n71, n2/n25 and n41. The 18 Fold has LTE 4, 5, 12 and 66 but not 71 (600 MHz), and 5G n2, n25 and n41 but not n71. - AT&T says devices that don't use its technology and frequency bands can't use its network. - Verizon says a BYOD phone must be unlocked and its hardware and software "must be compatible", which it checks by the phone's device ID. The 18 Fold lists LTE band 13 alongside bands 2, 4 and 66.

Xiaomi's notes on HD voice (VoLTE, calling over LTE) are about Chinese carriers; it says nothing about US carriers. Check with your carrier before you buy. See our guide to phone bands and US carriers. [1][9][10][11]

Apps and Google

HyperOS is built on Android, so Android apps install. Xiaomi's China spec page doesn't list Google services. Xiaomi's own China app store has a listing for the Google Play Store app; on Nov. 7, 2026 it was marked "维护中" (under maintenance), with a note that the Play Store depends on GMS and apps may crash during install without it. We found no Xiaomi page that says whether Google services can be switched on in the China edition of HyperOS, so check the specific phone before you rely on Google apps.

Without Google Play services, apps that depend on them (Google sign-in, Google push notifications, some banking apps) may not work; see our guides to China-edition phones and banking apps. [1][12]

Software support

The China edition ships with Xiaomi HyperOS 4. Xiaomi's China spec page doesn't state how many years of updates the 18 Fold gets. [1]

What's different

- Wide fold: a 5.38-inch cover screen and a 7.58-inch inner screen; Xiaomi says both are close to standard paper proportions. Folded it is 117.8 x 83.6 x 10.68 mm; unfolded it is 5.02 mm thick. - Xiaomi's own chip: the XRING O3 (玄戒O3), made on TSMC's 3 nm process, instead of a Qualcomm chip. - Multitasking: Xiaomi says HyperOS 4 on the 18 Fold runs up to six apps in split screen. - Extras: UWB (ultra-wideband, used for digital car keys), an infrared remote and IP58/IP59 water and dust ratings. [1][2]

Questions people ask

Does the Xiaomi 18 Fold have Google?

Xiaomi's China spec page lists HyperOS 4 and China services such as Mi Pay, not Google. Xiaomi's China app store lists the Play Store app as under maintenance and notes it depends on GMS. Xiaomi's global site has no Xiaomi 18 Fold page, so there is no global edition with Google. [1][4][12]

Is the Xiaomi 18 Fold sold outside China?

As of Nov. 7, 2026 Xiaomi sells it in its China store, and Xiaomi's global site has no Xiaomi 18 Fold page. Xiaomi limits after-sales service to the country or region of purchase. [3][4][5]

Does the Xiaomi 18 Fold work on Verizon or T-Mobile?

Xiaomi's band list includes LTE 2, 4, 12, 13 and 66, but not T-Mobile's 600 MHz band 71 or 5G n71. Verizon says a BYOD phone must be unlocked and compatible, checked by device ID. No US carrier certifies it; check with your carrier. [1][9][11]
