OnePlus says it "has decided to conclude product rollouts in Europe and North America"; on Oct. 15, 2026 its US site listed the OnePlus 15, with OxygenOS, and not the OnePlus 16. The same day the OPPO Store, where OnePlus's own China page sends buyers, took pre-orders at ¥6,499 for the 12 GB / 512 GB model, with shipping from Oct. 19. OnePlus's China spec page doesn't list Google services. [1][2][3][4][5][6]

China edition vs global edition

OnePlus gives its phones different software in China and abroad:

China editionUS / global
Current modelOnePlus 16OnePlus 15 (US)
Operating systemColorOS 17.0, based on AndroidOxygenOS 16.0, based on Android 16

Both systems are built on Android, so ordinary Android apps run. The difference is the set of services around them. GMS (Google Mobile Services) is Google's package of the Play Store, Google sign-in, Google Maps and push messaging. OnePlus's China spec page lists China services such as OnePlus Pay, eSE transit cards for "300+" Chinese cities and China's citizen eID, and doesn't mention Google. We found no OnePlus page that explains how Google apps work on the China edition. [1][5]

Where it is sold and how to get one

In China, OnePlus phones are sold through the OPPO Store, which has a OnePlus section; the "立即购买" (buy now) button on OnePlus's own China OnePlus 16 page links to this listing. On Oct. 15, 2026 it listed the OnePlus 16 as a pre-order: the 12 GB / 512 GB model at ¥6,499 (shown down from ¥6,799), with shipping starting Oct. 19. The listing gives the launch month as October 2026 and the network model number PYB110. Storage options are 12/256, 12/512, 16/512 and 16 GB / 1 TB.

Outside China, third-party exporters list the China edition. For example, Giztop listed the OnePlus 16 "as low as $999.00" and in stock on Oct. 15, 2026. Giztop says its phone is the "Chinese edition" running ColorOS 17, that it comes with Google Mobile Service and the Play Store installed, that "there is no global version software yet", and that it supports more than 20 languages including English. Those are the seller's claims, not OnePlus's. Giztop's shipping page lists DHL/UPS delivery to the United States in 5-7 days and says it may not know about customs duties in your country. The same page says Giztop declares packages at a lower value to help buyers avoid import customs tax; see our import guide for what US Customs says about declared value. We have not tested any seller.

Warranty: OnePlus's US terms say its warranty "is only valid within the original country or region of purchase" and that it offers after-sales help only in official sales regions. A China-edition phone has no US OnePlus warranty. [2][6][7][8][9]

Will it work in the US?

OnePlus publishes the China model's bands. A band is a slice of radio spectrum; a phone only connects where it supports the bands a carrier uses. The OnePlus 16 lists LTE FDD bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 18, 19, 25, 26, 28, 32 and 66 and 5G bands including n2, n5, n25, n41, n66 and n77.

- T-Mobile lists LTE bands 4, 5, 66, 12 and 71, and 5G bands n71, n2/n25 and n41. The OnePlus 16 has LTE 4, 5 and 66 but not 12 or 71 (T-Mobile's 700 and 600 MHz "Extended Range" bands), and 5G n2, n25 and n41 but not n71. - AT&T says devices that don't use its technology and frequency bands can't use its network. - Verizon says a BYOD phone must be unlocked and its hardware and software "must be compatible", which it checks by the phone's device ID.

The China spec page lists VoLTE (calling over LTE) as supported, and its dual-SIM notes are about Chinese carriers. OnePlus doesn't say whether the China edition works with any US carrier. Check with your carrier before you buy. See our guide to phone bands and US carriers. [1][10][11][12]

Apps and Google

ColorOS is Android-based, so Android apps install. OnePlus's China spec page doesn't list Google services, and we found no current OnePlus or OPPO page about using Google apps on the China edition. Without Google Play services, apps that depend on them (Google sign-in, Google push notifications, some banking apps) may not work; see our guides to China-edition phones and banking apps. [1]

Software support

The China edition ships with ColorOS 17.0. OnePlus's China spec page doesn't state how many years of updates the OnePlus 16 gets. The US OnePlus 15 runs OxygenOS 16.0 based on Android 16. [1][5]

Questions people ask

Does the OnePlus 16 China version have Google Play?

OnePlus's China spec page lists ColorOS 17 and China services such as OnePlus Pay, not Google services, and we found no OnePlus page on Google apps for the China edition. Some importers say they sell it with Google services installed; see where to buy above. [1]

Is the OnePlus 16 sold in the US?

Not by OnePlus. OnePlus says it "has decided to conclude product rollouts in Europe and North America", while existing OnePlus devices keep getting software updates, security patches and after-sales support. On Oct. 15, 2026 OnePlus's US site listed the OnePlus 15, which runs OxygenOS 16, and not the OnePlus 16. OnePlus's US warranty only covers phones bought in their original country or region. [1][3][4][5][9]

Will the OnePlus 16 China edition work on T-Mobile?

Partly, on paper. It has LTE bands 4, 5 and 66 and 5G n2, n25 and n41, which T-Mobile uses, but not LTE 12 or 71 or 5G n71, T-Mobile's low-band coverage bands. Check with T-Mobile. [1][10]
