Huawei introduced it in China at an event dated Sept. 7, 2026, with HarmonyOS 7 and no Google services. As of Oct. 15, 2026 Huawei's global site lists only the first Mate XT, and Huawei says HarmonyOS 7 is only offered in mainland China so far, so US buyers rely on exporters. [1][2][3][4]

Which edition is this?

As of Oct. 15, 2026 there is only a China edition. Huawei's China spec page lists HarmonyOS 7.0, and Huawei's HarmonyOS 7 FAQ says the launch event for HarmonyOS 7 and the Mate XT 2 was held on Sept. 7, 2026, and that HarmonyOS 7 is currently only offered in mainland China. Huawei's global phone page lists the first-generation Mate XT ULTIMATE DESIGN, not the Mate XT 2.

HarmonyOS 5 and later is Huawei's own operating system, not Android. Huawei's China support pages tell users to get apps from the AppGallery; ordinary Android app packages (APKs) only install through the "Zhuoyitong" compatibility app, and Huawei says whether a package installs depends on what Zhuoyitong supports. See our HarmonyOS page. [1][2][3][5]

Where it is sold and how to get one

Huawei sells the Mate XT 2 in mainland China. On Oct. 15, 2026 Huawei's Vmall store listed the 16 GB / 1 TB version at ¥23,999, with a countdown to the next sale that evening.

Huawei does not sell the phone in the US (see the FCC rules below). Third-party exporters list it instead. For example, Giztop, a seller that ships from China and Hong Kong, listed the Mate XT 2 "as low as $3,999.00" and in stock on Oct. 15, 2026. Its listing calls it a Chinese edition that supports multiple languages but "doesn't support Google Mobile Service, no Google Play Store". Giztop's shipping page lists DHL and UPS delivery to the US and says Giztop may not know about customs duties in your country. We have not tested any seller, and a phone bought this way has no Huawei warranty support in the US. [6][7][8][9]

Will it work in the US?

Huawei's China spec page for the Mate XT 2 does not publish a list of LTE or 5G bands, and there is no global model with a published band list. A band is a slice of radio spectrum; a phone only connects where it supports the bands a carrier uses.

- T-Mobile lists its 4G LTE bands as 4, 5, 66, 12 and 71, and its 5G bands as n71, n2/n25, n41 and higher mmWave bands. - AT&T says a phone has to work on its 4G LTE network at "AWS, 700, 850, 1900MHz", and that devices that don't match its technology and bands can't use its network. - Verizon says a BYOD phone must be unlocked and its hardware and software "must be compatible", which it checks by device ID (IMEI).

Huawei does not say whether the phone supports VoLTE (calling over LTE, which US carriers need) on US networks. Check with your carrier before you buy. [1][10][11][12][13]

Apps and Google

The Mate XT 2 has no Google apps. Huawei says that because of Google's licensing, phones from the Mate 30 series onward don't come with GMS (Google Mobile Services: the Play Store, Google sign-in, Maps and push messaging) or Google apps, and suggests using the web versions of Google's apps.

Apps come from the HarmonyOS AppGallery. Huawei's support page says apps served through the Zhuoyitong or Chujingyi apps can be installed from search results, and that whether a downloaded Android package installs depends on Zhuoyitong. [4][5]

What's different

The Mate XT 2 folds in two places. Huawei lists a 6.5-inch outer screen and a 10.2-inch screen across all three panels, 3.5 to 4.0 mm thick per panel when open and 12.3 mm thick when folded. Versions with Huawei's "Lingdun" anti-peeping privacy screen on the inner display come with 1 TB, or 2 TB in the stylus bundle. It also supports Tiantong satellite calls and two-way BeiDou satellite messages. [1]

US restrictions: Entity List and FCC rules

The US Commerce Department added Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. to its Entity List effective May 16, 2019 (84 FR 22961). The rule imposes "a license requirement for all items subject to the EAR" (US export rules) for exports, reexports and transfers to Huawei, with a "presumption of denial". Huawei is still on the current Entity List. That rule is about what may be sent to Huawei.

The rules that affect buying a Huawei phone in the US come from the FCC:

- The FCC's Covered List has included "telecommunications equipment produced by Huawei Technologies Company" since March 12, 2021. - Equipment on the Covered List "is prohibited from obtaining an equipment authorization" (47 CFR 2.903). Radio devices may be imported only if they have an FCC authorization or meet one of the conditions in 47 CFR 2.1204. - Since July 16, 2026, the FCC also bars importing and marketing already-authorized equipment added to the Covered List in 2024 or earlier, which includes the 2021 Huawei entry (FCC notice, 91 FR 41023). The FCC says consumers may keep using devices they already have "if the equipment was legally purchased and maintains an existing equipment authorization", and that the bans don't apply to importation under the conditions in section 2.1204(a)(3)-(11). - One of those conditions, 2.1204(a)(7), covers "three or fewer radio frequency devices" imported "for the individual's personal use and are not intended for sale", within the device categories the rule lists. The rule does not name Huawei phones; read it, or ask the FCC, before you import one. - An FCC rule effective Oct. 13, 2026 says its marketing rules reach any entity, "including online marketplaces", that markets unauthorized equipment (91 FR 57798).
